I have one

Long floppy ear

Stretched out on the ground

Listening for anything

That might be hanging around

Maybe a beetle

Clawing at the dirt

Perhaps a worm

Burrowing deeply

Inside the earth

Or wait…what is that I hear??

Oh  my…. this one is for double ears!

I now have two

Long floppy ears

Stretched out on the ground

A tad bit uncomfy

My butt

The flies found

Bottoms up

Tail exposed

Draft in my crack

but alas!

Listening for anything

In  that white static

….There it is again….

Static in the earth

I close my eyes

To see with my ears

I see a form

Beginning to appear

A sculpture in the fog

Tuning in like vapor

I see an ear

Long and tapered

I see big teeth,

fat cheeks

Fluffy tail and big feet!

Long lashes, soft eyes

(sniff, sniff)

And her smile

I’ve memorized

Mama, you’ve been gone

So long

But I see you

Loud and clear!

You are tuned all in

With my long floppy ears

Oh Mama!

How are you?

I miss you so

Are you OK?

Please come back!

Don’t go away!

Mama tells me she loves me

And is never very far

She tells me my ears

Are a Mama radar

Whenever I need her

Stick my tail to the north

My feet to the ground

With my nose to the earth

Just like a blood hound

Point my ears to the south

I can tune her right in

My tears flow freely

When our talk

Comes to an end

(sniff, sniff)

So sad I am

I miss her so

Remembering her smile

As my tears flow

And remembering

The words she said to me

Whenever I need her

She’s never very far

Just tune in my ears

My Mama radar

I find myself "Dancing With Cancer", problem is...I can't dance. I stumble, bumble, and get pulled along. To keep my sanity, (humor me), I write short stories, a journal, musings and poetry....just about anything goes.
